Mental Health Therapist
Marisa was raised in San Diego, where she developed a deep appreciation for nature, community, and holistic health. She gravitated towards a profession in mental and behavioral health after 7 years of working in the public education system. Marisa later obtained her B.A. in Social Work from SDSU, where she interned as a Health Coach for a non-profit organization. During that time, Marisa conducted individual and group services for all ages, leading various wellness classes throughout San Diego county in fitness, meditation, healthy cooking and community gardening. Also during her undergraduate experience, Marisa volunteered in Costa Rica on an eco-agriculture conservation project, where she lived on a coffee farm and learned about the wonderful culture and values shared by the community.
Determined to make an impact in the lives of individuals, Marisa earned her Master’s in Social Work with a Pupil Personnel Services Credential from SDSU. Marisa’s most recent experiences as an intern, both with Mending Matters and the Grossmont Union High School District’s Student Support Services, have helped prepare her in fulfilling her role as a Mental Health Therapist. Marisa is honored to be working with youth once again, and looks forward to promoting positive school culture and supporting students in reaching their full potential.
For fun, Marisa enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling and camping, surfing and snowboarding, playing soccer, tennis and guitar, and spending time with her pets.
