Julio Mendoza
My name is Julio Mendoza; I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, but moved to San Diego in 2015. Leaving the triple-digit heat to SoCal’s fantastic weather was the best decision I ever made. Since then, I have graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelor’s degree in social work. I am the first in my family to receive a BSW and the first to pursue a Master’s Degree. Currently, I’m working towards an MSW and PPSC at SDSU. I have gained experience working with foster youth seeking higher education, youth and families in City Heights at Rosa Parks Elementary/ Monroe Clark Middle School, and child welfare services. I’m passionate about working with adolescents and breaking down barriers that will allow them to reach their greatest potential.
Outside of my education and work the little things that make me happy are iced coffee and food. I enjoy outdoor activities such as hikes, dog parks, farmers markets, and other fun local foodie activities. I’m a San Diego Padres fan and attend as many baseball games as possible. I also enjoy staying home, binge-watching new shows, gardening, and playing video games.
